The map shows the property tax subsidies received by Bay Area homes due to Prop 13. Subsidy is defined as the difference between the actual tax and the tax the home would be paying if assessed at market value.‍

The map currently contains 1.2m+ homes representing $9.4bn in yearly subsidy. See about page for methodology.
